Shock Wave Therapy works by stimulating a controlled inflammatory response in the targeted tissue. The high-energy waves enhance blood flow, increase cellular activity, and encourage natural tissue regeneration. This process helps in faster recovery and long-term pain relief.
During a Shock Wave Therapy session, our physiotherapist applies a hand-held probe to the affected area using a gel medium to ensure proper transmission of the waves. The therapy may feel like tapping or pressure on the skin, and intensity can be adjusted based on the patient’s tolerance. Each session typically lasts between 10 to 20 minutes depending on the condition and area treated.
Shock Wave Therapy is generally safe when performed by trained professionals. It is a non-invasive and drug-free treatment. Mild side effects such as temporary soreness, redness, or swelling at the treatment site may occur, but these are usually short-lived and resolve within a few hours to a couple of days.
